Create SEO-friendly URL slugs

This tool turns a title or heading into a clean, readable URL slug entirely in your browser — no network request and nothing uploaded. It lowercases text, converts spaces to your chosen separator, strips punctuation, optionally removes common stop words and can limit the length without cutting through a word.

How it works

  1. Enter your title or text — for example a blog post heading.
  2. Choose options — separator, case, stop-word removal, language mode and an optional length limit.
  3. Add a base URL (optional) to see a complete URL preview.
  4. Click Generate slug, then copy the slug for your page or permalink.

Examples

  • "10 Best Chicken Biryani Recipes for Beginners!" → 10-best-chicken-biryani-recipes-beginners
  • "How to Make Money Online From Home" → how-to-make-money-online-home
  • "Best Chicken Mandi!!!" → best-chicken-mandi
  • " Hello World " → hello-world

Practical tips

Keep slugs short and descriptive — include the main keyword and drop filler words. Hyphens are the safest separator for URLs and are widely recommended over underscores. Set a slug once and avoid changing it later, since changing a published URL can break links unless you add a redirect.

Limitations

The stop-word list is a sensible default for English, not an exhaustive dictionary, and you can switch removal off when a small word matters. Length limits trim at word boundaries where possible, so the result may be a little shorter than the exact limit. This tool does not check whether a slug is already used on your site.

Privacy

Everything runs locally in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, stored or shared, and the tool makes no network requests.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a URL slug?
A slug is the readable part of a URL that identifies a page, usually made of lowercase words separated by hyphens — for example, best-chicken-biryani. Clean slugs are easier for people to read and share.
What do the separator and case options do?
The separator sets the character between words (hyphen, underscore or dot); hyphens are the most common for URLs. Case lets you force lowercase or keep the original capitalisation.
What are stop words and should I remove them?
Stop words are small common words like "a", "the", "for" and "with". Removing them can make slugs shorter and cleaner, but it is optional — turn it off if a stop word carries meaning in your title.
Does it work with non-English text?
Yes. In General / Unicode-safe mode the tool preserves letters and numbers from any language while removing punctuation. English mode converts accented letters to their closest plain form (é becomes e).
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The slug is built entirely in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, stored or shared, and the tool makes no network requests.
