Remove duplicate lines from your text

This tool removes repeated lines from any text or list entirely in your browser. Paste your lines, choose whether to keep the first or last occurrence, ignore case, trim whitespace or skip blank lines, then copy or download the cleaned result with full statistics.

How it works

  1. Paste your text with one item per line.
  2. Choose your options — keep first/last, case sensitivity, trim, ignore empty lines, and ordering.
  3. Click Remove duplicates to see the unique lines and statistics.
  4. Copy or download the cleaned list, or clear to start again.

Example

Given the input:

apple
banana
apple
orange
banana

With keep first, the result preserves the order of first appearances:

apple
banana
orange

With keep last, each line's final occurrence is kept, ordered by where those last occurrences appear — here apple, orange, banana.

Benefits and features

  • Keep first or last — with the order documented and predictable.
  • Flexible matching — case-insensitive and whitespace-trim options.
  • Clean output — optionally skip empty lines; multiline text is never corrupted.
  • Useful stats — original lines, unique lines, duplicates removed and characters.
  • Copy or download — grab the result or save it as a text file.

Privacy

Everything runs locally in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, stored or shared, and the tool makes no network requests.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I remove duplicate lines?
Paste your text with one item per line, choose your options, and click Remove duplicates. The tool keeps one copy of each line and shows the cleaned result with statistics.
What is the difference between "keep first" and "keep last"?
Keep first keeps the earliest occurrence of each line and outputs lines in the order they first appeared. Keep last keeps the final occurrence of each line and orders the result by where those last occurrences appear. Both remove the extra copies.
What do the case, trim and empty-line options do?
Case-insensitive treats "Apple" and "apple" as the same line. Trim whitespace ignores leading and trailing spaces when comparing and in the output. Ignore empty lines drops blank lines from the result entirely.
Can I keep the original order or sort the result?
Yes. "Preserve original order" keeps lines in the order they appear; switching to "Sort alphabetically" returns the unique lines in alphabetical order instead.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is processed locally in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, stored or shared, and the tool makes no network requests.
