Rotate PDF

Rotate the pages of a PDF by 90°, 180° or 270° — all pages or just the ones you pick — entirely in your browser. Page content and quality are preserved. Your PDF is never uploaded.

Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded.

This tool runs in your browser. Please enable JavaScript to use it — the guide below explains what it does.

Note: the rotation runs in your browser with JavaScript. With JavaScript off you can read this guide, but the tool controls will not appear.

Rotate PDF pages the right way up

This tool turns the pages of a PDF by 90°, 180° or 270° — either every page or just the ones you choose — entirely in your browser. It changes only each page's rotation setting; it does not re-render or rasterise the pages, so text stays sharp and selectable and every other part of the document is left untouched. Nothing is uploaded and no network request is made.

How to use the Rotate PDF tool

  1. Add your PDF — drag it onto the drop area or click to browse. The tool shows the page count.
  2. Choose the rotation — 90° clockwise, 180° or 270° clockwise.
  3. Choose the pages — all pages, or select specific ones such as 1, 3-5, 8.
  4. Click Rotate PDF, then use Download PDF to save the rotated file.

How it works

When you add a PDF it is loaded once with a bundled PDF library to read its real page count. When you rotate, the tool parses your page selection, checks each page number against the document, and updates the rotation of the chosen pages by adding your angle to whatever rotation they already had. Because it only edits the rotation value and copies the rest of the document as-is, the operation is fast and lossless — no pixels are re-drawn. The new PDF is built in memory and offered as a download; the temporary link is released when you rotate again or clear.

Benefits and use cases

  • Fix scans — turn sideways or upside-down scanned pages the right way up.
  • Mixed orientations — rotate only the landscape pages in a mostly-portrait document.
  • Lossless — text and images keep their original quality because nothing is rasterised.
  • Precise selection — combine single pages and ranges like 1, 3-5, 8.
  • Private and offline — your PDF never leaves your device.

Limitations

This tool changes page rotation only; it does not crop, reorder or edit page content. It cannot open password-protected PDFs and does not remove or bypass PDF passwords — an encrypted file is reported as unreadable rather than unlocked. Very large PDFs use more memory while they are processed in the browser.

Privacy

Everything runs locally in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded, stored or shared, and the tool makes no network requests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Rotate PDF tool free?
Yes. It is completely free, with no account, sign-up or watermarks. You can rotate as many PDFs as you like.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Your PDF is read and rotated entirely inside your own browser using a bundled PDF library. It is never uploaded, stored or shared, so it is safe to rotate private or confidential documents.
Does rotating reduce quality or change the content?
No. The tool only updates each page's rotation setting — it does not re-render or rasterise the pages, so text stays sharp and selectable and all other content is untouched. The page order is preserved exactly.
Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes. Choose "all pages", or enter a selection such as 1, 3-5, 8. You can mix single pages and ranges. The tool checks your selection against the real page count and tells you if a page number is out of range.
Can it open password-protected PDFs?
No. This tool does not remove or bypass PDF passwords. If a PDF is encrypted so that it cannot be opened without a password, the tool reports that it cannot process it rather than attempting to unlock it.
