Generate harmonious colour palettes

This tool creates attractive colour palettes entirely in your browser. Pick a style, choose how many colours you want, and generate — each colour shows its HEX, RGB and HSL values, and you can lock the ones you like before generating again.

How it works

  1. Choose a style — random, monochromatic, analogous, complementary, pastel or vibrant.
  2. Set the number of colours (3–10).
  3. Generate, then lock any colours you want to keep.
  4. Copy an individual HEX or the whole palette, or download it as a text file.

Palette styles

  • Monochromatic — one hue in varying lightness.
  • Analogous — neighbouring hues that sit well together.
  • Complementary — opposite hues for contrast.
  • Pastel — soft, light tones; Vibrant — bold, saturated tones.
  • Random — balanced random colours with pleasant saturation and lightness.

Locking colours

Found a colour you love? Lock it and it will stay exactly the same the next time you generate — only the unlocked colours change. This lets you build a palette around one or two favourites.

Formats

Every colour is shown as HEX, RGB and HSL, all derived from the same value so they always match. Copy whichever format your project uses.

Privacy

Palettes are generated locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored or shared, and the tool makes no network requests or use of external colour libraries.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are the palettes generated?
Colours are built in the HSL colour space so they look harmonious rather than random. Each style — monochromatic, analogous, complementary, pastel, vibrant or balanced random — uses a different relationship between hue, saturation and lightness.
Can I keep colours I like?
Yes. Lock any colour with its lock button and it stays exactly the same when you generate a new palette; only the unlocked colours change. You can lock several at once.
What formats can I copy?
Each colour shows its HEX, RGB and HSL values, computed from the same colour so they always match. Copy an individual HEX, copy the whole palette, or download it as a text file.
How many colours can a palette have?
From 3 to 10 colours, with 5 as the default. All generated values are valid 6-digit HEX colours.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Palettes are generated locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored or shared, and the tool makes no network requests or use of external colour libraries.
